Rick Owen is the Managing Partner of SolomonEdwards’ Houston office. Prior to joining SolomonEdwards, Rick was the CFO of an early stage, fast growth coffee company in Asia; an executive with a boutique private equity and venture capital firm in Houston; the CFO and President of an NYSE healthcare company that he co-founded and took public; and an audit and consulting partner with Arthur Andersen.

Rick has had substantial experience over the years in corporate finance matters, mergers and acquisitions, executive and board management and accounting and financial reporting. While he has worked across a broad spectrum of industries, his expertise is in energy, oilfield services, professional services, healthcare, life sciences and manufacturing.

Mr. Owen earned a BBA in Accounting from Baylor University and was both a CPA and Certified Fraud Examiner during his many years in public accounting. In the years since, he has been very active outside of work with Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church in Houston, as well as with The Antioch Partners, a faith based organization devoted to long-term cross cultural engagement throughout the world.


If you could do anything else as an occupation, what would it be?

Speechwriter.

What is your proudest personal or professional accomplishment?

Helping to take a company public (from scratch).

If you could jump on a plane tomorrow and go anywhere in the world, where would you travel and why?

I would like to go to Iran – as I have always been fascinated by the history of the region.
