Candace Caley
Candace Caley is a partner with SolomonEdwardsGroup LLC (SEG). Since joining SEG in November of 2007, she established and currently manages SEG’s Houston office and is the Managing Director of SEG’s National Financial Services Practice.
With more than 20 years of professional services experience in financial and operational consulting, Candace’s specialty is profitability enhancement through the reengineering of operational, financial, and business processes and practices. She has experience in a number of different industries but has concentrated heavily on the financial services industry serving a wide array of clientele, including large commercial banking institutions, the major GSEs (FNMA and FHLMC), the FDIC, the SBA, savings and loans, and mortgage banks.
Before joining SEG, Candace was Managing Director of Consulting Services at Clayton Services where she provided operational business solutions and process improvement services to the mortgage and investment banking industries.
Prior to that, she spent 18 years at Horn Murdock Cole & Co. where she held various positions of increasing responsibility, including Vice President of Consulting Services for the Houston office and National Director of the Financial Services Practice. In this role, she managed a team of 120 consultants delivering operational and financial business solutions and process improvement services to both public and private commercial and mortgage institutions.
Candace began her career at Arthur Andersen & Co. after graduating cum laude from University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Okla. with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She is a former board member of the Women's Finance Exchange and is currently involved in the fundraising efforts of both the Houston Pediatric Hospice Association and Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP). She participates in the United Way Women’s initiative as a member of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society.
Kelley Lee
With over 20 years of commercial and mortgage banking experience, Kelley has overseen numerous project initiatives from credit and risk to strategic planning and corporate governance. He is able to provide both strategic best practices and tactical assistance to a diverse client base. Kelley has executive and board level positions at community banks, both public and privately, serving as the Chief Credit Officer. Kelley’s career began at the Office of the Comptroller of Currency as an Examiner.
Kelley brings a background and expertise in credit and risk management, lending, treasury management, and regulatory experience to the practice.
Michelle Phung
With over 20 years of experience, Michelle has held senior and executive management positions in a variety of banks ranging from large community banks to super national banks such as Wells Fargo. She has performed tactical roles such as the Chief Operating Officer for a large community bank operating in Texas, California, and China, and more strategic roles providing leadership to change initiatives at First Interstate and Wells
Fargo banks.
Michelle brings a background and expertise in banking operations and technology, regulatory compliance, and service delivery to the practice.
Doug Thorpe
Doug brings over 25 years of mortgage and commercial banking expertise combined
with an extensive background in project management for national and regional
mortgage banks and servicers. He serves as the Principal in charge of SEG
Mortgage Services Division and acts as a SME on projects related to loss
mitigation for mortgage banks and servicers and front and back office mortgage
lending operations including; origination, closing, post-closing, loan
accounting, servicing, compliance, foreclosure, MERS, problem assets, and loan
workout.
He is currently managing one of SEG’s largest mortgage projects to date
involving a large scale loan review and project management related to the
foreclosure consent orders recently issued by the OCC. This team consists
of hundreds of SEG consultants. He also directed another notable SEG’s
mortgage projects which involved the ownership, collateral review, servicing,
loss mitigation, foreclosure, MERS status, and disposition of a $1.2 billion
dollar FDIC mortgage portfolio.
Prior to joining SEG, Doug served was the founder and CEO of a national business
process outsourcing (BPO) specializing in residential mortgage loan operations
outsourcing. He developed technology and provided business process improvement
solutions around all aspects of mortgage lending and servicing. He also
managed multiple post-merger bank operations unit consolidations, assessing
systems performance and staff alignment, maximizing merger outcomes and
deliverables under prescribed deadlines and budget.
Prior to that, Doug spent 19 years with Chase Bank and predecessor banks in
increasing responsible roles including directing operations units with 265
employees for three business units including mortgage banking. He is also
a former board member of MERS Inc.
Doug began his career as an officer in the U.S. Army.
